Each year, in October, the Cultural Association of Kythera organises a congress of photography, in which photographers are meeting from all over Greece . There is a presentation of ideas, proposals and styles. Photographers have the opportunity to present their works in exhibition spaces all over the island.

In all summertime duration the municipality of Kythera organises cultural events like art exhibitions, concerts, dramas e.t.c. The Municipality entertains cultural teams and artists from Greece and abroad.

The Union of Kytherian Youth organises during the summertime the PORPHYRIS FESTIVAL, which includes activities like photography, painting, figurative exhibitions, musical events, dance e.t.c.

One of the most beautiful moments in Kythera. The intense religious spirit of Kythera and the disposition of Kytherians to welcome the summer in the island, creates really beautiful pictures during Easter. Thus, what you mustn't miss is the epitaph in Chora with flaring candles lit up from the Castle and the prowl in the alleyways of the capital. The same setting, in Avlemonas, maybe a bit more romantic and with the sea reigning through the reflection of the flaring cannikins on its surface. The Resurrection is more beautiful in small villages in a spirit of family and brotherhood. The prowl of the icon of Myrtidiotissa begins on Monday of Easter at Chora, where it remained before the Resurrection, is brought around all the villages for the following days and finally returns to the monastery. It is one of the oldest customs of the island.

The "Myrtia" association that resides in Mitata, organises the Wine Feast in the beginning of August. Dance, food and free wine, is offered by the local producers, in the central square of the village. The feast lasts for two days. Music by the local orchestra and Nikos Oikonomidis.

The association of village "Filoxenos" realises on the 6th of August in the graphic small port of Avlemonas a dance with traditional music.

The Agricultural Veterinarian Expo of the island takes place at Fratsia each year at the end of August. Rural products, exhibition of textile handicrafts, dance and food. Music by the local orchestra of Kythera.

Other dances take place at Livadi (at the end of July), at Potamos on 15th of August, at Agia Pelagia on September 24th.
