The most beautiful, "green" village of Kythera . It is centrally located in the north, near the airport region. It has wonderful view to a splendid ravine, the gorge of Tsakonas. In the opposite side we can see Viaradika, another village, little smaller.  Therefore, in the gorge of Tsakonas, a delirium of dense vegetation with various trees prevails, thickets and other plants that capture our look and senses. The gorge is accessible and surprises the walker. Watermills, small lakes and a small post byzantine temple, the secret school that you’ll meet there. In the region there are quite a few springs with abundant water. The unique variety of nectarine grows in Mitata, known as "breasts of Aphrodite". The residents of Mitata mainly deal with agricultural work. They are of the most active persons in the island and their association named "Myrtia" organises each August the "Feast of Wine". Visit the springs that are suitably shaped for picnic. |
